I like the idea from Future Sound Of London to develop a theme, a song, through several versions and make an EP with them, and if possible, make a coherent thing, in order to enjoy the listening of the whole EP.
Frankie Goes To Hollywood (or more specifically Trevor HORN) did similar thing when releasing special cassettes version of singles, for example with Warriors Of The Wasteland. They called these versions "cassetted" or "compacted" (though this is more an extended version).
